Clik here to view.Washington Redskins tight end Chris Cooley appeared on NFL.com’s “Cover Two Podcast” and talked about his team needing a big time wide receiver like Plaxico Burress.
Cooley is remains optimistic that the Redskins will re-sign free agent receiver Santana Moss. But let’s face it , Moss isn’t even on the same planet as a guy like Burress.
“I’m sure we’ll try to sign Santana Moss back, but we need a big-time receiver,” said Cooley. “We’ve got to have someone step in and fill that position.”
“It’s tough when you get guys like T.O. or Chad, who have been what they are in the NFL for so long. In my opinion, Plaxico Burress probably is a guy that’s humbled such as Michael Vick was, a lot, in the same situation. If you were going to take a risk on a guy that’s a good player, he’s probably the guy you’re going to take a risk on.
“He’ll probably step in a locker room, keep his mouth shut, work hard and try to earn his way back into the league the first season.”
Burress would definitely make an immediate impact on the Redskins. But the only problem is they don’t have a quarterback.. With Donovan McNabb likely out in Washington once the lockout is lifted, who does Burress have to work with, John Beck?
While the Redskins and their fans can hold out hope for a chance at landing Burress, I would encourage them not to hold their breath.
